Character Information:Mirabel is the main character of Encanto and is the only member of the family who wasn’t bestowed a gift by the miracle, and that means that she doesn’t have the same magical abilities as the rest of her family. However, Mirabel is a resourceful, cheerful, and creative young lady who is great at sewing. She ends up saving the miracle of the casita when the magic faded and destroyed the house. Mirabel was the one who found a way to rebuild the casita and restore the magic of the family while reconciling with her Abuela and allowing the family to become whole again.

Character Information:Alma Madrigal, also called “Abuela” (which means grandmother), is the matriarch of the Madrigal family and is the one in charge of controlling the family’s magic through the miracle candle. Her life is tragic because she ended up losing her husband, Pedro, during the time when their triplet children were still infants. However, it was Pedro’s noble sacrifice to save his family and the fleeing villagers that allowed the Madrigal family to have a miracle and to be able to establish a home that would keep them and everyone in the village safe.

Character Information:Pedro “Abuelo” Madrigal was the husband of Alma and was the patriarch of the Madrigal family before he passed away at the young age of 26, about 50 years before the events of Encanto. Just when his triplet children were born, a war broke out, and he led his family and villagers to safety before dying at the hands of soldiers to make sure everyone was able to escape. Pedro’s noble sacrifice was what allowed the Madrigal family to have a miracle and for the surviving villagers to establish a village that they could call their own.

Bruno ultimately ran away from his family due to the fact that he saw a vision of Mirabel “causing” the destruction of the casita, and this eventually made his name taboo in Encanto, especially to Pepa. However, Bruno eventually made up and reconciled with his family when he came back home and helped in rebuilding the casita.
